Sub-project Protronic:
Electronical processing of sensor data for photoacoustical micro gas sensors
Aim of the project and group is to conduct basic physical/technical studies of photoacoustical laser spectroscopy, to provide therewith the fundament for a novel and miniaturised gas sensor system for industrial realisation in the future.
Potential areas of application are:
- industrial process controlling (e.g. early fire detection)
- safety technology (e.g. highly sensitive and selective detection of explosive contamination)
- medical technology (e.g. high precision measurement of oxygen)
Instead of a photoacoustical absorption cell, in this project for the first time an in indoor-air-condition working and fully fiber coupled oscillating quartz tuning fork is used as sensor element (QEPAS, “quartz enhanced photoaccoustic spectrosopy”).
