Company history
1993 Foundation
started with one employee = CEO (Dipl. Ing. Thomas Wegner) in Taucha near Leipzig: development, production, delivery and installation of controlling and monitoring systems, all in one person. In the beginning the company was focused on the development of fire protection systems (hold-open systems) with the appropriate tests and approvals. In 1993 the first specifically developed control system was tested by the VdS and in consequence approved by the DIBT (german institute for construction technology). This product is still produced by the Protronic GmbH and has approvals for Europe, USA (FM), Poland, Czech Republic and Russia.
1995 Relocation of the company,
to Bennewitz, into larger offices. Since the foundation a steady increase of sales, product range and number of employees could be recorded.
1997 products for flexible fire protection closures and fire protection curtains
are added to the production range. This new product on the German market developed significantly we are now one of the market leaders für the sypply of control systems for flexible fire protection closures and smoke curtains.
2000 Development of a new range of products and research
Protronic intensively works on a new product range in the supplying sector of special electronic ballasts for railway applications. In this context a research project along with the Osram GmbH, Siemens AG, Spezialleichten Wurzen GmbH and the Technische Universität Dresden is conducted. The project is supported by the ministry of research and education.
2006 Delivery of electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps
to the CBK GmbH Delitzsch, which applies the ballasts in trams for the Heiterblick GmbH. These trams are used by the transport services in Leipzig and Halberstadt.
2008 Development of a web server,
which allows the remote maintenance of various electronic control systems and fieldbus systems.
First application areas are the light control system and the remote maintenance of the illumination in the hardware stores Hornbach and Baumax as well as the remote maintenance of the hold-open and emergency power system.
2009/2010 Relocation to a new company building,
wich means a considerable enlargement of office, development, production and storage areas.
